My research and teaching interests span a range of issues and topics in physical geography and environmental sciences. These include: River processes, focusing on problems of sedimentation, channel braiding and riverine floods. Environmental science, with particular emphasis on environmental impact assessment and environmental auditing of land degradation and biodiversity changes. Impact of climate change on food security and adaptation options, and climatic disaster response in Bangladesh. I am currently Project Coordinator (Lead Partner) of a multi-institutional project (with University of Hull, England) on Food security through community food bank in natural disaster prone areas in northern Bangladesh which combines the academic training and action research
